I’ve got a few goals for the future and I think they are obtainable just going to take some time. One day,  I’d like to do my art full time and I think that is the dreams of most artists. So yeah, I’ve got to make that happen.

Sooo…I’ve added several pieces to the site!  ”Pride and Punishment” was my most recent digital painting. While “Dressed to Kill” was my most recent Manga style.  Actually, I’ve got another piece done as well that I entered a contest recently for Clef de Sol, a new french manga.  You can see it here  Clef de Sol – There you are!

At the moment, I posted them over at my deviantart site but this weekend I be updating here.  Just to keep my own art blog on the same page.

I’m going to be at a Steampunk event this weekend at Rose Society on friday selling a few prints in the marketplace.  Part of the proceeds go to a Cystic Fibrosis charity so that’s nice.  Should be fun!  Hope to see you there!

But as for Dead Man’s Chest….I wanted to paint a Naga.  And then when I got into it I went…OMG, what have I done!??? SCALES!!  Yah, You don’t want to know how many scales ideas I went through.  And after looking at references of  poisonous snakes  for awhile I realized that painting them was going to be ‘fun’.  lol    Finally, I settled into a style of scales that I could bring almost a jeweled effect to… And its hard to see in the painting but there are a TON of water drops.  Painting water.  Now that is another task on top of scales.  LOL.  However, this painting taught me quite a bit so I can’t complain.  Later paintings will look back and thank this one for being so troublesome!

In the end, one of my good friends gave me the idea for this title.  It’s rather appropriate don’t you think?  -tee hee-

But back to the painting…I have a friend that might be putting on a Steampunk convention this Winter and she thought it might be nice if I were to display something to fit the theme.  And thus, Tempting Fate came about…

This painting actually has a funny story because while the boy is not Icarus with the waxed wings, he actually is in a bit of a pickle if his leather coat catches a light from the…jet.   Thus, Ikarus in Theory.   A very close friend of mine could not stop laughing at the thought and as I look at the painting more  I have to say, he’s got to be wearing a some funky flame retardant stuff!  That’s my story and I am sticking with it!  -smirks-

But…today I did go to a Japanese festival, ate a cupcake at a cupcake bar, and stopped at a Borders.  And guess what, the Advanced Photoshop Mag there had a tutorial on Steampunk style.  So I picked it up to learn some new techniques.  I’m all about learning how to make my art skills improve!

Yay! Got this one done the other day and am very happy with how it turned out. Take a look in my Gallery above to see it in the Paintings section.  I put many little details into this one and unfortunately it’s probably hard to see everything that in on the tea cup, lace, watch…etc.  But at least you get to see the whole of it.  Mm…I think the Mad Hatter is just smexy but I doubt the March Hare’s going to let me at him.  I suppose that’s the problem with possessive Hares.  LOL

I’m getting faster and that’s a really good thing.  Eventually, I expect to get these done quick enough to get a solid pile of work together for a book or something. Haven’t decided yet but the answers will come.  My next painting is still rolling around in my head waiting to come to the screen.  Just a bit undecided about the image yet. Usually they come to me as an image in my head and so that s when they start creeping out to the screen. It’s pretty funny sometimes but not always do they end up the way my muse intended.

Anyway, keep an eye out for my next piece because I plan on seeing how fast I can do it.  Wish me luck!

Beyond that, I got Manga Studio 4 Ex!  YAY!  So this last week as been studying 2 books that are really for v 3 but there isn’t anything for the version I have yet. It’s taking longer than expected since they have changed a few things about the program. Ah well eventually, I will have it down. Many of its features remind me of other programs I use so it can’t be that bad.  A friend and I are working on a manga project and I hope to be able to use this program to draw everything in! I am rather excited about the prospect of creating our own book with our own characters. Not sure how we plan on publishing it yet but there are so many self publish options if we don’t want to go through traditional publishers.  

Ok now back to my sketch pad…scribble scribble
